What do you do when your child starts dancing inappropriately?

My daughter has started to copy the bellydancing she saw on TV once. How can I stop her? Will other parents think I’m doing something inappropriate if she copies this? She sticks her butt out and smiles when she does this. I want it to stop because I don’t want to teach her this stuff.

Beaking in ballet slippers!?

I just got new NEW new leather full soled Bloch leather slippers and I used to wear canvas ones and I don’t think that I really needed to break them in.

They are pretty tight and hard so I need to break them in because I don’t want to go to class on monday with shoes that are hard to dance in

Nutcracker: Waltz of the Snowflakes?

I’m 13 and I’m doing Waltz of the Snowflakes en pointe again this year (we do the Nutcracker every year). Last year, when we did it, I only did about half the dance because I was younger, not as strong as the company dancers, etc. Now I’m in company, and I’m doing the entire dance.

How can I build endurance & stamina? I think part of it may be that I need new pointe shoes, last year my pointe shoes broke right after the performance and this year (I have a new pair, obviously..) they’re wearing out.

Dancer Diet?

Dancer needs better workout!?

Hi, I’m a 19 year old modern dancer. I’ve been dancing for almost 4 years and I have enjoyed great emotional and physical rewards because of it. Recently, I’ve been granted a scholarship to train with a nationally recognized dance company.
I’ve started going to the gym and already I have seen improvements in my body. I’m a bigger guy, 6′1 and 235lbs. I may not seem like the dancer type of body. I’ve enjoyed working out by lifting wieghts but I’ve already gotten negative responses from my dance teachers for doing so. They say I am bulking up rather than getting leaner. I started using the treadmill but this led to knee problems and bulkier legs muscles that prevented me from completing my lines (dancer talk…sorry). I started using the elyptical and this made it better.

I eat very healthy. Granola cereal or eggs in the morning, a light lunch and low fat chicken skillet for dinner.

Whats a better work out for getting leaner but at the same time getting stronger?

How can I freshen up smelly old ballet slippers?

I just dug my leather ballet shoes (not pointes) out of the closet after a 6-month ballet hiatus and want to use them again, but they smell terrible and are kind of dingy. What can I do to get rid of the odor?
