A few questions about Split Point Lighthouse a.k.a the Lighthouse in “Round the Twist”?
My younger brother got given the entire box set of ‘Round the Twist’ for Christmas, and I began to watch it and fond memories of my own very early childhood came flooding back.
I would like to know a little bit more about the lighthouse itself (and the production of the show) if there are any locals to that area on Yahoo answers.
Can you actually drive up to the lighthouse and walk up it or go on a tour? If so, when do tours operate?
Are there any locals who remember seeing or meeting any of the characters in person, or the filming of the show?
Was the show (particularly the first and best season) actually filmed inside the lighthouse – in other words, were the interior shots the actual lighthouse or were they done on a set?
How long does it take to get from Melbourne to the lighthouse by car?
Cheers!
P.S. Wasn’t Round the Twist simply the best Australian kids’ show of all time!!!

Not a local, but yes you can tour the lighthouse:
I’ve never seen the kid’s show, but
describes the lighthouse and surrounding area as having been used in external scenes.
And the Round The Twist WWW site says it is filmed in a Melbourne studio:
Frankly the size of the interior of a lighthouse would make filming inside nearly impossible. TV cameras are rather large things!
