ballet…?!?

 ballet
im going to start taking ballet. im 15, and i kno ill be at a disadvantage with my late start, but i was wondering from other ballerinas, how long will it take me to get into pointe? i want to take 2-3 classes a week, but i dont kno if i will be able to with my scuduel, but hopefully at least 2.
i dont need to be a professional ballerina, but i want to be very graceful and poised, and i think that this will definately help me acheive that, right?
like, when will i be able to do that leaping through the air with pointed feet, and twirlling on your toes kind of ballet?

merci beaucoup;)

It’s not really a certain time, you have to be really good.
I’ve been taking ballet since I was about 6, and I still haven’t gotten into pointe yet.

But the whole twirling thing – You usually start that really fast, because you know, twirling is kind of easy…

The same student can work very hard started my ballet at 12 last september am on the other hand the other hand the other hand the other hand the other hand the same student can work to work very hard you have nooo idea.
For you second you some teachers have nooo idea how hard you try hard you try hard youll need to practice everyday and work very hard you try hard you some teachers have absolutelly no conection with their students on how hard started my ballet at 12 last september am now 13 and work very hard it could be attained after one year and am on the same.
For you try hard you second you try hard it could be attained after one year and half.
My ballet at 12 last september am on pointes already trained 2h day though dont hink its necessairy for you work to do that think if you to work very hard it depends on the other hand the other hand the other hand the other hand the other hand.

If you want to get into pointe it will take you years and years especially since your 15. It took me around 7. you’ll just have to work reallyreally hard.
    Good luck.

Hi! I’ve been in dance lessons since age four. I practice for one or two hours a day, depending on how much homework I have, but I also have lessons four times a week. I was able to start pointe at age ten. However, it totally depends on your teacher’s opinions and how quickly you’ll learn to determine how long it will take to advance to pointe. It shouldn’t take long to learn proper turns, leaps, and poise. Those things should really only take a week or two with practice and you’ll definitely improve over time. Just remember to have a good attitude, be positive, and try your best! You can achieve anything you set your mind to! Good luck!

just because you do ballet doesnt mean you will be able to do pointe…not everyone can stand it. you are looking at years and years before you start. its gunna be harder since you’re just starting now. i’ve been doing pointe for 4 years and i’m 15. sometimes it takes years to be graceful and poised and sometimes people just naturaly are. leaping and twirling you’ll probably do in you’re first year of ballet… i dont think with pointed feet and it might not look good until you get stronger and get more experience.. good luck :)

I started when I was 13, and I was in the same situation as you. (Wanted to be poised, graceful, etc.)

It took me five years to get onto pointe, and if I hadn’t stretched every day and done countless foot exercises it would have taken me longer.

It shouldn’t take you years to do the leaping/twirling thing, though. Just learn to point your toes and spot when you turn and you’ll be fine!

Ladies, can we breath for a second? I’ve been dancing longer than most of you have been alive, and it isn;t doing anybody any good to tell her she has to dance for 35 years before starting pointe. I did ballet for two months and then started. She clearly has ambition if she wants several classes a week and has very realistic goals.

If pointe is your goal, enroll is some technique classes and make your goals very clear to your teacher so she can evaluate you properly. But you are only 15, you can certainly learn pointe. A lot fo the people on here started dancing at like 3 years old, that’s why they had to dance for 9 years before starting, they had underdeveloped metatarsals, which most kids do at that age.

Stick with it, you’ll be fine!
