Ballet for 14? Class at Primary Ballet?
Hi! I am 13 this year. I wish to take up Ballet and be a part-time professional Ballet teacher in the future. Is it possible? I am going for Ballet lesson(1h a week) meant for Beginner next year in the nearby Community Club. The class is for 7years and above and it is a Children Ballet class coaching for Grade 1. I don’t know if I should choose a Primary or a Pre-primary Ballet class or Grade 1 class. Well, I am currently learning Chinese Dance and Piano and can I catch up with them? How does average student,14 learn? How long to Grade 8? How long for practising Ballet at home? What class do they take? I am not considering to be a professional Ballerina, but I still wish to learn Ballet and be a Ballet teacher. I don’t really have a busy schedule currently in the lower secondary. Can I cope in the future? In Junior collage? I quite cherish my time.(not wasting my time, but I waste some of it thinking of Ballet!)

You are older than most to begin to learn ballet. But if you have talent your dream is not impossible. I emphasize talent. Without it you can take lessons for 100 years and still not be any good. Start at the very beginning with the simplest steps and go from there. Again, how fast you learn depends upon how talented you are. By talent I mean flexibility, grace, strength, limber, and a good ear for the beat. It will be a few years before you can do all the movements and more than that to be really good. I took lessons from the age of 4 until I was sixteen. The better students are placed in the front row in class. To get there AND stay there you must be better and be able to do the new steps the teacher taught you. You will be in the front row so the other students can watch what you do. So practice, practice, and practice. Good luck.

For at least 12 hrs preferably more you need to use an immense amount of professional teacher and effort to get anywhere you want to get busy now there is no time you want to get anywhere you want to proceed you want to find good luck.
For at this point if you need great teacher and ton of becoming teacher is bit unrealisticsorry you need to get busy now and not just.
your practicing ratio should be 5:1 for at home. For ever 1 hour of class you need to practice 5 hours at home. And trust me it works. The best idea for a dancer starting at fourteen would be to take as many dance classes as you can. Dancing is tough and it takes a lot of practice. Because of your age i think you should start at grade 1 after a month of that i think you might say combine 2 at once for your exam. In all likely hood it will more then likely take you about eight years to take grade eight exam,and thats only to take it. That doesnt mean your going to get into distinction. Being a ballet teacher doesnt really mean just knowing the formulas. Think of it this way, If you dentist didnt have his degree would he still be your dentist? So why would anyone go to you if you just barely know what your doing? You need to have a reason why people would want to dance at your studio. You might even want to try to go to a summer intensive if you can afford one. Lets just face it ballet is an expensive sport, it not only takes a lot of money, it takes up your social life, your realaxng life and your ability to go out and by that french fry! Sorry for all the negitve news, ballet is really fun but it definitely is not an easy game. Im just trying to make sure it doesnt hit you by surprise.
