ballet slippers vs jazz shoes?

 ballet slippers
i’m going to be in my first musical ever, and i was wondering if i should get soft ballet or jazz shoes. a lot of people doing the musical wear jazz shoes, but they’ve been doing this for years and i dont know if it’s practical to invest more money in them. and for those of you who are familiar with the elastospit ballet shoe, what do you think of it? i hope the dancers out there can help me!

Since it is going to be a musical I assume their will be more dancers than yourself.I would have everyone wear the same shoes. That makes everyone match and scenes much more professional looking. If it means invest in them do so.Plus the jazz shoes give better skid resistance than soft ballets on a stage.Good Luck and Have fun!

i would think it depends on the type of dancing you’ll be doing. are you talking about shoes to practice in? it does make sense to copy the pros. good luck.

Jazz shoes are best for musicals.

One : Jazz is the typical dance used in musicals

Two : easiest shoe to move around in

Three : the shoes are not easily visible, which is nice

    Four : comfortable and quiet

But, when in doubt, ask the director or costume director/department what your best choice would be.
