The people think ballet is fun but it’s very hard and demandig work. The girls experience suffering but they love ballet and dedicate their life to dancing

Ballet is fun, but you need to have real love for it. In America people are mostly nice and all but it lacks discipline. Yes in Russia and especially China they are harsh…but these girl learn to work hard, listen, and get over criticism. This is why the Russian ballet is the best in the world.

i´ve read in the comments that “if you are that skinny you are anorexic” …but its a lie, i know people thinner and they eat all the time ^^
but i read that THIS girls in the video, some lost their menstrual period…that indeed shows something is wrong

They are probably that skinny because of eating disorders. Anerexia and Bulimia are considered the dancer’s disease.

Like Dutchess222 said, there’s so much to learn and perfect that you have to start young. Also, to gain sufficient turnout/flexibility before your hip rotator muscles and flexibility are set. Plus, a dancer’s career on stage is very short, ideally you should start your career in ballet around 18 while you’re young and fit as you can probably only continue until your late 30s.

Well, ballet is very hard for your body, so you have to be very light that you can dance long time, because you’re knees wont last of you’re too heavy.

My ballet instructor’s from the Bolshoi Ballet and she always talks about how there’s no pressure now, how she was treated back at the Ballet, etc. It’s still the same in Russia now, maybe not for all the dancers, but for most of them.

i know some russian ballet dancers (THE Moscow Ballet, might i add) and they’re not that thin. they’re nice, though. and they’re healthily thin like me.

Yeah, but remember that it’s in Russia, where the ballet pressure is way more. Like me, I am also in the top dancers of my group, but I’m on the chubby side. In Russia I’d get laughed at if I said I danced ballet.

i am one of the top 5 dancers at my dancing school, and i’m not even CLOSE to that skinny! NO ONE in my class is. so i guess it’s the school.
