Tapdancing in burlesque??

tapdance

Were tapdancers paired up with other performers, or was it a solo act? Was it usual to simply perform tapdance, or did they amp it up with comedy? How “big” was the tapdance routine alongside other acts: sideshow or main attraction? Any examples of a partner routine, with a dancer tapping to a singer’s melody?
