How do you start dancing and meeting people at high school dances?

I got to an all girls boarding school, and sometimes we have “mixers” (dances) with other girls schools and boys schools. These are my first high school dances, and especially since I don’t know anyone besides the girls at my own school, it’s hard to get dancing and meeting people (cough guys cough). There’s always a huge mob of people dancing and grinding in the center of the dance floor, but I don’t know how to get out there and get into it and stuff. Ahh, any help at all???

Soy un adolescente chico, que necesita una ayuda en este momento. Cómo bailar? Tipo de pregunta extraña, ¿no? Leí en alguna parte que la mayoría de los muchachos piensan que pueden bailar, pero cantar. Sólo quiero saber cuál es el mejor baile que se mueve no son muy difíciles de mover, que es bueno para sólo un grupo de amigos de baile y otras cosas.

The other night at a dance, my friends crush asked me to dance to a soppy song, so I did as I was just having some fun. I had my arms around him and his were on my waste. However, my friend is now upset and angry with me because she didn’t get to dance with him and I did. Do you think it was wrong of me? Or that she shouldn’t be acting like this? Nothing was going on between her and this boy and nothing ever has. What should I do to put things right with my friend?

i like this boy and i danced with him at the 7th grade school dance and my best friend took a picture of it and put it on myspace so i took the picture but i didnt put it as my defult then later on he asked how he can put pictures of the dance to his myspace and i taught him and he put the picture of us as HIS DEFULT!i was so happy and he put me on his top a lot of people think he likes me and i like him too and he knows so anyways me text each other a lot after school and after school we talk to each other and play basketball and he always invites me to his bball game&today we had a class together ,and our teacher told us to make valentine day cards and his said will you be my valentine but he didnt give it to anyone&today i was texting him and he was like so0oo who are you going to ask to be your valentine?&i said hmm i dont know and he was like you should ask someone. And he knows that hes the only person i like so i dont know should I ask him? and do you think he likes me
p.s. ive known him SINCE FOREVERR!!
and everytime i ask him who he likes he says i dont know so yeahhh.

and everyone thinks he likes me but sometimes i do and sometimes i dont soo yeahh and its been a week since the dance and he still has the picture of us as his defultt.

if he’s your date, can you like sorta leave him and dance with your girlfriends?
do you have to stay with him the whole night?
do you have to like dance with him besides slow dancing?
